Call for Papers
2008 International
Workshop on 4G WiMAX System will be held in conjunction with the
International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (
CHINACOM
2008) on August 25th ~ 27th, 2008, in Hangzhou, China.

In recent few years, the emergence of Worldwide Interoperability for
Microwave Access (WiMAX) has become a key Broadband Wireless Access
(BWA) technology for Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (Wireless
MAN). Recently, significant effort has been dedicated within the IEEE
standard body to develop new 802.16j and 802.16m amendments in order to
support multihop relay operation, and to meet the requirements of 4G
IMT-Advanced mobile networks. The multiple hop nature of the IEEE
802.16j entails numerous design challenges, ranging from OFDMA frame
structure design to traffic forwarding and path management.
Moreover, in order to support 1 Gbit/s data rate in low mobility
applications and 100 Mbit/s in high-speed mobility applications aimed
at by 4G, a wide spectrum of physical layer and Medium Access Control
(MAC) layer innovations need to be introduced. Other issues
such as regulation, spectrum management, application innovation and
economic model for WiMAX deployment for 4G all deserve thorough
discussion and investigation.
This workshop intends to cover all key aspects related to the current
and the next generation WiMAX system and network for 4G services. It
will bring together engineers, researchers and students to present
cutting-edge technologies, and describe work in progress at all layers
of the protocol stack, to reflect the latest advances in the
state-of-the-art in design, modeling, simulation, and applications of
WiMAX.
